Practice, Not Lectures
Every ITIP engagement is built around real-world practice. We don’t teach you about response-readiness — we make you practice it until it’s second nature.
What the Half-Day Looks Like
3–4 hours of live, facilitator-led training built on practice — not lectures. Here’s the agenda block by block.
Before the seminar
Participants complete the Personal Stability Assessment on their phone (link sent 48 hours before). The facilitator reviews aggregate results and pre-selects org-specific scenarios — so the training starts grounded in your team’s real patterns.
The Biology of the Moment
40 min"Before you can respond to someone else’s stress, you have to understand your own."
- Polyvagal Theory in plain language — 10-minute accessible overview
- The Window of Tolerance — where are you right now? Where are they?
- Somatic practice together: grounding exercise (feet on floor, weight shift, 3 breaths)
- Debrief: "What did you notice? What changed?"
Your regulated nervous system is the most powerful tool in the room.
The First 90 Seconds Protocol
45 min"No competitor teaches this. This is the moment that matters."
- Ground — 3 breaths, feel your feet
- Orient — scan the space, lower your voice, slow your pace
- Regulate Together — match their energy, then gently lead it down
- Respond, Don’t React — what do they need right now?
Live demonstration + pair practice with scenario cards. Everyone leaves with the Response-Ready Wallet Card.
Scenario-Based Practice
60 min"Practice in simulation so you don’t have to figure it out in the moment."
- Three scenarios drawn from your organization’s actual context
- Pair practice — one person as leader, one as person in distress
- Structured debrief after each scenario using feedback cards
- Full group debrief: patterns noticed across all pairs
Scenarios are pre-selected based on your sector — church lobby, school hallway, ER waiting room, patrol car, nonprofit office.
The Somatic Toolkit
30 min"Three techniques. 60 seconds each. Anyone can do them anywhere."
- Grounding — feet on floor, weight awareness, physical anchoring
- Orienting — look around, name 5 things you see, find one thing that feels stable
- Resourcing — find your anchor: a person, a memory, a physical sensation
Everyone practices together. Everyone leaves with the Somatic Toolkit Quick-Reference Guide.
Your Personal Stability Plan
25 min"Leave with something you’ll actually use on Monday."
- "When I notice I’m leaving my window, I will..."
- "My three go-to regulation moves are..."
- "When someone is in distress, my first three moves are..."
Not a worksheet — participants format as a phone lock screen image or wallet card they’ll actually look at.
The Closing (15 min)
Each participant states ONE thing they will do differently next week. The facilitator captures all commitments. Then we introduce next steps: the online tool, the 10-module on-site course, and the Seminar Credit offer.
What Every Participant Takes Home
Most half-day trainings give you information and a certificate. We give you a protocol, a toolkit, a plan — and we follow up to make sure you’re using them.
If your organization moves to the 10-module on-site course within 90 days, the seminar fee is credited toward that investment.
